Immigration is a Black issue

Amplifying the existence, plight, and resilience of the undocumented Black community.

When we say “Immigration is a Black Issue” we are saying that what affects one of us affects all of us. Where there’s any state-sanctioned targeting of Black people, that targeting impacts the entire Black community - regardless of immigration status or citizenship.

“Immigration is a Black Issue” is the motto and framing of the UndocuBlack Network, established to create space for the currently and formerly undocumented Black community. Our presence in this country isn’t recent and our realities continue to be shaped by anti-Black racism and xenophobia. As a population twice rejected by this country, for the color of their skin as well as their immigration status----we fight every day for collective liberation and healing because Black immigrant voices will not be silenced, drowned out, or tokenized.
